Day one: Washington to Montana

So we got off to a start at 7am and headed away, hoping the car will make it. We were very proud of our organized system of packing in the car having already done a trial run. The highlights of Washington was Joshua seeing the Columbia Gorge for the first time and all the beautiful windmills. Those things are crazy huge! We stopped in Coeur D'Alene for lunch and dipped our feet in the water. We were planning on staying in Thompson Falls Montana so we took the scenic roads on highway 200. It was really beautiful and recommend it if traveling in Montana. We arrived at Thompson Falls after 8 hours of driving, found a spot on the river and unpacked. Then after about an hour packed up and left again.... watch Joshua's video for that story. We followed 200 further and checked out the Flathead Indian Reserve and the National Bison Refuge. Check out Allison's video for that story. The highlight of that area was the bald eagle perched in its nest. After two more hours of driving we stopped in Beavertail State park for the night. It was a great first day. Tomorrow we are off to Yellowstone!

  1. I'm trying to post a comment for the 4th time. We'll see if this works. I'm assuming you drove through Sandpoint and by Lake Pend Orielle. So you remember staying in the condo at the east end of the lake. We spent a lot of time on the lake, saw moose and you had your first boogie board ride there.
    Love, Mom
